Thank you very much for the very kind reviews

Hi Everyone

I thought I would share a quick update on some of the amazing feedback that the two VIRO books have been getting. Reviews are the lifeblood of any author and it is great to hear that people are responding favourably to the post-apocalyptic adventures of Jake and his friends.

‘I bought this book a couple of months ago and it has been sitting on my desk up until last weekend. As I was travelling last weekend I decided to take this book with me. It would not be my normal choice of book but I decided to give it a go..! Bottom Line is I could not leave it down..! Over the course of two flights, sitting around airports and a bit of bedtime reading it gave a new insight into this style of writing. The author, Barnaby Taylor certainly has a way with words and is clearly an expert in holding an audience. I see he has the 2nd book out now, and I will be buying this one asap..!
It strikes me that this series of books could be open to a teenage audience who I believe would get a lot from the story line and the characters.
5 Stars from me for Mr.Taylor.’

‘I absolutely loved this book. Powerful and poignant, ‘Viro’ packs a punch. Sad and haunting, ‘Viro’ is a new take on the zombie genre. The characters are dynamic and interesting, finding strength despite their horrifying circumstances. Jake is a character that will stick with you long after the final page. The action sequences are thrilling. I was on the edge of my seat! I can’t wait to read Book Two!!

Absolutely thrilling. I loved every page more than the previous, to the point that I couldn’t stop reading. Jake, a unique and curious character with good intentions. Ellis, the cunning and loyal girl who sees that Jake is different. Abe, brave but not so bold. Amber, intent on getting the Job done the quickest way possible. These four kids make their way through a zombie infected place they used to call home, struggling to cling on to the things they love and desperately seeking safety.
I was left on the edge of my seat when I finished the book with a thirst for more adventure! Amazing.

Viro: Book Two” is incredible. Picking up where the first one left off, this book grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. It’s fast paced and superbly thrilling! The narrative is poignant and heartbreaking as Jake’s unique voice draws you in. Highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys zombie stories. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Jake and the gang!

5 ★★★★★ Review ‘It’s like reading Terry Pratchett for kids’

Hi Everyone

Featured Image -- 1487I’m thrilled to have just discovered another 5★★★★★ review for Falcon Boy and Bewilder Bird versus Dr Don’t Know in a Battle for all the Life of all the Planets has just been posted on Amazon and thought I would share it with you. The book is currently FREE to download in all digital formats at Amazon and Smashwords so why not pop along and see what all the fuss is about?

As we all know only too well, positive feedback is such an amazing thing to receive so many many thanks need to go to Mick Jordan for very kindly reading and  reviewing Falcon Boy and Bewilder Bird versus Dr Don’t Know in a Battle for all the Life of all the Planets.

“Windy is standing by, ready to run really fast.”
“The something she bumped into was very solid and very metal and it very hurt her arm.”

The quotations above perfectly sum up the style of this novel. It is child-like and witty but always charming. It’s like reading Terry Pratchett for kids. The characters exist in their own bizarre but completely believable universe and say perfectly sensible things that no sensible person would say. Or, as in the case of arch-villain Doctor Don’t Know, not say – anything except “Don’t know”. (It’s this approach to all questions and accusations that has got him to where he is in the evil underworld of Panic Town). Battling him are the (not very) super heroes Falcon Boy and Bewilder Bird aided by a little girl called Ellis. Ellis is the reader’s way in to the story and clearly there for the child-reader (or the child reader in all of us) to identify with.
There are numerous sub-plots and characters propelling the story along its merry way, and all of it told in a lively, entertaining style that will sometimes make you laugh out loud – often in recognition of the equally bizarre attitudes and concepts of the real world. Like popular teen-icons Doodah and their mega-hit “Hey! Ho! Giddy, Giddy Go! Go!”- the entire lyrics of which are – in the title.
This book is a really fun read and it is really fun to read aloud to any child open to a world of fun and adventure.

5 ★★★★★ Review – ‘A wonderful book for both children and adults’

★★★★★ A wonderful book for both children and adults

This book is beautifully written. It’s highly imaginative and richly descriptive. It takes children and adults on a wild and exciting literary adventure, inviting the reader to insert some ideas along the way. Falcon Boy even displays a little existential angst; is he a hero or simply no-one at all? The book is humorous and clever, drawing on modern day societal and corporate issues. In addition to finding the book funny and interesting, I found the book poignant and touching. You desperately root for Falcon Boy and his companions to vanquish Dr Don’t Know and the Troublebots (the Troublebots are shoddy and angry) so that we may find answers to some of the big questions as opposed to a scenario where for example one would have to lodge a ticket to a giant help desk where the answer to the question is invariably don’t know. Brilliant! I think that we can all identify with some of the messages of this book. People with the least amount of knowledge often have the most power and authority. They thwart access to knowledge and the answers to questions. Falcon Boy (who is a hero) dares to take them on. This is an uplifting book. I highly recommend it.

Hi Everyone

Volume I in the Falcon Boy: A Fairly Hopeless Hero series has just received another Five Star review on Amazon. Here it is reprinted below:

Falcon Boy and Bewilder Bird versus Dr Don’t Know in a Battle for all the Life of all the Planets

‘Trying to tear my 8 & 10 year old sons away from their games consoles and the Disney XD channel is a constant battle in our house, with me usually ending up on the losing side!
Well for two glorious weeks, after purchasing this book, the Nintendos and TV just sat in the corner and gathered dust.

Being an avid (but slightly tight-fisted) reader myself, I was scouring my kindle for cheap (or preferably free!) books to read. With so much choice, I resorted to my usual trick of only looking at books who’s covers caught my eye. This book leapt straight out at me, it is quite a simple design but obviously has had a lot of thought put into it and, in my mind, is visually quite stunning. So I took a punt and bought it. And boy, am I glad I did!

After reading a good few chapters myself in the first sitting, I decided that my boys needed to read this book as well, whether they wanted to or not! So I started reading it to them for half an hour or so before their bedtime. They were as instantly hooked as I was.
The absolutely insane but, somehow, still believable characters, the strange world they inhabit, the way the narrative jumps from one crazy situation to another in the blink of an eye and the authors witty asides to the reader make this book a compelling read for all, whether aged 8, 10 or 40 (ish).
This book has kept us all entertained throughout, with very many laugh out loud moments. It has a humour that works on many levels but without ever being anywhere near offensive.(which seems to be quite unusual these days).
Also, we all agreed that this story and these characters would be great transferred to the screen. If not a film, it would definitely make a fantastic animated series and would certainly not look out of place on the aforementioned Disney XD Channel.

My only gripe is that there is not a sequel yet and I have two sons pestering me on an almost daily basis to check the kindle to see if one is out yet.
So, Please sir, can we have some more?…………………..’
